Version 2.2 Now Released and The Printed User Guide is Back
Version 2.2 is now the release version of FFP. And the printed user guide is
back! I have the final proof copy and it looks wonderful. As before, it is
spiral bound with a fold over flap so you can see the title when it's on a book
case but it stays open by itself.
Version 2.2 includes many improvements and includes a new Image Selection Mode;
designed for selecting images for exhibitions or competitions.
Website Upgrade
On January 24th, a major upgrade on the website entering system was implimented.
The big change was the introduction of "Subjects" for competitions. For any
competition, the projectionist can define a set of subjects - when the member
uploads images for such a competition, a drop down menu is available which
allows them to set the subject for each image.
Apart from the "Subjects", the competition setting pages have more "fail-safe"
warnings if you try and leave a page without saving your changes.
Finally, the code used for emailing images has been improved - with the old
version, the emailing of images would occasionally fail. This has been difficult
to tie down as it never happens on the "test" version of the website, only on
the live version(!)
Version 2.2 BETA Now Available
The first beta version of version 2.2 FFP is now available for
download. This is a major
upgrade with a new "selection" mode for selecting images for exhibitions and
several other enhancements.
Version 2.1 is Released
Version 2.1 is now the release version of Film Free Projection; this version
includes support for TIFF images, improved automatic image change facilities,
improvements to the "lightbox" view of images and the availability of a printed
user manual.
Version 2 FFP File Converter
The FFP File Converter takes image files and deduces the author and title from
the filename and patches the image's EXIF information appropriately. For
example, an image might be called "Sunrise by Andrew.jpg", the FFP File
Converter can automatically deduce the title is "Sunrise" and the author is
"Andrew". Version 2 introduces support of TIFF images as well as JPEG and the
ability to encode the image subject as well as the author and title.
New website and online entering facility
As you've discovered(!), this is the new Film Free Projection website. One of
the principle aims for this site was to make online entering of FFP based
competitions possible. If you are the club projectionist for an FFP based camera
club, you can use this site to setup a competition page tailored for your camera
club. The facility is currently in early beta test, so people who are interested
in using the facility please contact me.
